The RB450G has long been one of MikroTik’s best-selling router models in the Asian market. In the second half of the year, MikroTik introduced its successor—the RB450Gx4 (RouterOS Level 5). As the name suggests, the RB450Gx4 is a direct upgrade to the RB450G, delivering significantly improved performance through comprehensive hardware enhancements.
The RB450Gx4 is powered by a 716 MHz quad-core CPU, paired with 1 GB of RAM and 512 MB of NAND storage, and features five Gigabit Ethernet ports. These upgrades allow the RB450Gx4 to clearly position itself as a higher-performance replacement for the original RB450G.
In terms of power and deployment flexibility, the RB450Gx4 supports 802.3af/at PoE input, while maintaining a compact form factor with efficient thermal design. It is well suited for a wide range of applications, including SOHO internet access, small and medium business firewalls, VPN and PTP routing, student housing bandwidth management, captive portal authentication systems, and high-traffic internet cafés.
With its substantially improved hardware capabilities compared to the RB450G, the RB450Gx4 stands out as one of the most cost-effective and versatile routing solutions in its class.
